Motor vehicles are common means of transportation and there are legislations which are introduced to ensure that road users are protected. In most countries, there are laws which requires owners of motor vehicles to carry insurance cover in respect of third party bodily injury.

 
Private Motor Car Policy :
 
This is generally taken up by individuals who own car and the cover be considered in respect of the following :
 
Section I : Insurance on the Motor Car.
The Policy indemnity the Insured against loss or damage to the motor car and its accessories and spare parts whilst thereon. It also cover costs in the protection and removal of the disabled vehicle following the accident.

The exclusions under this Section are :
• Loss of use or any other consequential loss.
• Depreciation, wear and tear, mechnical or electrical breakdown etc.
• Damage to tyres unless involved with othet damage in the same accident.
 
Section II : Liability to Third Parties :
The coverage is in respect of claims, including costs and expenses, which the Insured is liable to pay for death of or bodily injury to any person or damage to property arising out from the use of the Motor Car insured or the driving by the Insured of other vehicles except hired vehicles.

The exclusions are generally in respect of persons in the course of emplayment and property belonging to or held in trust by or in the custody or control of the Insured or member of his household.
 
Section III : Medical Expenses :
The indemnity is in respect of reasonable costs of medical expenses incurred in connection with bodily injury by violent, accident, external and visible means sustained by the Insured, Authorised Driver or any passenger from an accident to the Motor Car.
 
Section IV : Personal Accident Benegits :
The coverage is based on a scale of benefit with aggregate of US$20,000 any one period of insurance.

There are certain restrictions as follows :
• The Insured is not less than 16 or more than 65 years of age at the time of injury.
• Excluding self injurym suicide or attempted suicide, physical defect of infirmity.
• Insured is under influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
 

 

Motor Cycle Insurance :
 
Use of motor cycle is most prevalent in VietAnm. It is certainly a more hazardous risks and hence coverage is more limited.
 
Section I : Loss or damage to the Motor Cycle
Cover is in respect of specified perils as follows :
• Accidental collision or overturning or overturning consequent upon mechnical breakdown or consrquent upon wear and tear.
• Fire, external explosion, self ignition, lightning, burglary, housebreaking or theft etc.
• Malicious act.
• Whilst in transit by road, rail, inland waterway, lift or elevator.

The exception under Section I are folows :
• Loss of use or any other consequential loss.
• Depreciation, wear and tear, mechnical or electrical breakdown etc.
• Damage to tyres unless involved with other damage in the same accident .
• Loss of or damage to accessories or spare parts by burglary housekeeping or theft unless the Motor Cycle is stolen at the same time.
 
Section II : Liability to Third Parties.
The coverage is in respect of claims, including costs and expenses, which the Insured is liable to pay for death of or bodily injury to any person or damage to property arising out from the use of the Motor Cycle insured.

The exclusions are generally as follows :
• Death or bodily injury to persons in the course of emplayment.
• Property belonging to or held in trust by ot in the custody or control of the Insured or member of his household or being conveyed.
• Death, bodily injury or damage caused or arising beyond the mimits of any carriageway or thoroughfare in connection with rhe load to the Motro Cycle or there from the Motor Cycle.
 
Cover can be varied to only Third Party Only or Third Party, Fire and Theft. Coverage can be extended to include Strike Riots and Civil Commotion, Flood, Typhoon, Hurricane, Volcanic Eruption, Earthquake etc, Legal Liability of Passengers for their act of negligence.
